Slow Cooker Green Split Pea Soup

A favorite after Christmas & Easter, this Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup is incredibly easy to make and works perfectly with any leftover ham or beef roast after the holidays.

  • 1 package Hurst's Green Split HamPeasĀ®

  • 6 cups beef or chicken stock (can use water)

  • 1 cup chopped carrots

  • 1 cup chopped celery

  • 1 cup chopped onion

  • 1 clove minced garlic

  • Meat Options: Leftover ham or beef bone, with some meat still on the bone OR 1 lb. cubed ham/sausage/beef.

  • Salt/Pepper to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. In a colander or sieve, sort and rinse the dried peas thoroughly. Check for any unwanted debris and discard.
  2. In a 4-6 quart slow cooker, add all ingredients, including ham flavor packet. Stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on high 4-5 hours, or low 7-8.
  4. If using a ham/beef bone, remove the bone and trim off any remaining meat, add back into the pot, discard the bone.
  5. Keep warm until ready to serve.


If you prefer a more "brothy" soup, add 1 more cup of liquid.
