To Our Customers and Consumers,

During these unprecedented times, we value the trust and support you place in N.K. Hurst and our products. As a 4th generation family-owned company, our thoughts and condolences go out to all who have been impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak.

The health and safety of our employees is our top priority. We want you to know we are taking Coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously and have taken steps to ensure all of our employees stay safe.

Hurst family leadership is also committed to meeting the needs of our customers and consumers during this time of uncertainty. N.K. Hurst is considered an "essential business", and therefor has continued to manufacture so we can provide food to our grocery partners in communities across the U.S.

Unprecedented Demand

Since the Coronavirus outbreak began, there has been an unprecedented demand for Hurst's products (and all packaged dry beans) across the country. Our company reacted by quickly ramping up and adding additional production across all shifts. However, with demand continuing at an extreme rate, Hurst’s bulk supply of dried beans has to be monitored closely until new crop is harvested in August/September/October 2020. Because of this, we are forced to manage our dried bean availability to all customers. We are allocating all packaged bean products as fairly and equitably as possible over the coming months until demand/supply can re-balance.

Consumers may also notice less flavors/varieties on store shelves. Hurst made the decision early to try and "get the most product out to the most people", which meant reducing production to just our items available in the majority of regions across the country. We apologize for this and hope to get back into producing some of our other flavors/varieties as soon as we can.

Food Safety

As always, Hurst will maintain the highest levels of food safety practices across our supply chain and production process. Our packaging facility will continue to follow SQF (Safe Quality Foods) certification requirements, and we are following the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) pertaining to the containment/spread of COVID-19.

Moving Forward

Our management team will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that we are providing a safe environment for our employees, and continue to produce for our customers and consumers.

Our family and employees are working hard every day to keep product shipping out to stores across the country. We are thankful and proud to provide families with a comforting meal during these difficult times.

Thank you,

Needham R. Hurst
